Avatar and The Vietnam War

For those of you who have not seen Avatar, GO SEE IT!

A. It is extremely awesome.
B. It's 3D viewing adds to its awesomeness
C. (Most importantly) it can be related to the Vietnam War!

So for those of you who have not seen it I will try not to be a spoiler. For the most part it is about normal people trying to take over, in a way that would destroy the country it is attempting to take over/move, for its own personal benefit. In Avatar I noticed that people invaded in on the native's land without even considering what it would do to the native people. They did not care if the people suffered great lose. They did not care what the people of the land may have held dear to their hearts or believed in. They did not care for anything, but creating a benefit for themselves. Sound at all familiar?

I feel this is in a lot of ways how Americans acted during the Vietnam war. We just walked in there without being asked, in hopes of not spreading communism and did not care if communism was what they believed in. America much like the american people in this movie stepped into Vietnam without even stopping to consider how much damage to all the Vietnamese families their actions would cause. Okay maybe they did "consider" it, but apparently that didn't stop them, much like it didn't stop the people in Avatar.

Again trying to avoid being a spoiler so I will leave it at that for those of you who have watched it to ponder further, and for those of you who have not watched it I suggest you do so that you can too link it with the Vietnam tragedy.
