Maya Lin
This documentary to me was for the most part boring at times by how slowed it seemed and how calm of a tone it was at times. However I enjoyed the scene discussing the Vietnam Memorial and the controversy that surrounded the design. Being able to hear Maya Lin's vision of the memorial and why she designed it really brought light to why it was just a wall with names. Her idea that the wall was to be a place for Veterans to make their own and bring whatever they want to honor their fellow comrades helped to make sense to me why a simple wall with names would be a perfect memorial. The final scene helped to show this by how you see scenes of veterans bringing flowers and other items to the wall to honor their friends and family they lost to the war. Besides this seeing how the opposition was so strong against the wall was something I had never seen or heard before so that helped to tell me that the wall was not something that came about so easily. One aspect I really enjoyed was watching Maya Lin develop as an architect however though these different scenes were too me just very boring, but it was still interesting to hear her thoughts and what went on her head to come up with the designs. All and all though I found this documentary to be my least favorite because of how slow and boring it was at times, I just could not really get that into it. Hearts and Minds and Fog of War kept my focus throughout the movies while this one I found myself losing my focus and interest at times.
