Up, Simba

I was not thrilled to hear about a reading assignment during Spring Break. This essay was a big step down from the last few readings. First of all, this essay was pretty long and got boring at times. His single sentence structures can be made into its own paragraph itself. There were also some parts of this essay that were hard for me to understand throughout this essay.

The beginning of the essay reminded me of Trip to Hanoi, how Sontag was being straight forward and stated how she wasn't a political activist nor planning on writing anything about her trip. Wallace also starts off by being straight forward and saying how he not was part of any political party nor he was a political activist. This made the reader feel that Wallace was being truthful and honest throughout his essay.

Wallace wrote about McCain's Presidential campaign. Wallace portrayed his comments towards McCain in an unbiased way, which let the reader decide their own opinions towards McCain. Wallace's words gave a visual image to the readers to feel the situation Wallace was trying to tell. I also enjoyed how he brought up voting. He gave the readers a sense of what to think and who to vote for. Why is the truth so difficult?
