Up Simba

I was not looking forward to reading this essay, especially after finding out how long it was. Surprising though, I enjoyed it. There were parts that I didn't quite understand and that were a little boring, but for the most part it was easy to read and interesting. In fact, I thought this essay was easier and more entertaining than Trip to Hanoi for some reason. I don't follow along with politics or anything I just thought it was interesting to see the observations that someone from the outside, like me.
I liked how Wallace was straight forward in the beginning and said that he was not a political activist, nor was he a Republican because it made him seem more honest, which I'm sure was on purpose as one of his rhetorical strategies.
I enjoyed his comments about McCain because he seemed to be neutral and explained his opinions, positive and negative. Wallace also talked about truth in politics which was very interesting because we all know that so much of what we hear is bullshit how do we know what to believe? He brought up a lot of good points like why should we care so much when we don't know what to think and who to vote for if they are all liars?
