Up Simba
The article in my opinion was very interesting by being able to hear about all the different aspects of a campaign on the road. From how the buses are set up to all the way to the different press corps that attends. Also seeing how different aides of the candidate did their job and hearing how McCain organized his speeches and the way he presented himself on the road. One part was really interesting by when the author describes how the McCain team was trying to figure out what way they should respond to Bush's negative attacks that just occured. The author describes how each possible reaction has its pros and cons and the right decesion must be chosen very carefully. Even more interesting was how the author described the incident of the boy who was hurt but the Lowinskey scandal and how he called the boy to talk to him in private. The author writes that this situation might of been set up as a political tool to help McCain and if thats true helps to show the maneuvering candidates do to get elected. Also not only did the author describe the interesting parts I liked hearing how not great it is to be on the road and to see that all the people involved in the campaign work very hard and barely get any sleep. This helped to show how hard a candidate's team busts their asses for their boss and helps to show that a lot goes into the working of a campaign. All and all the article helped not only to bring light of the workings of a campaign but also showed how the honor and character McCain possesses. The description of how he would not break the code the army had while he was a prisoner helped to exemplify how McCain is a great man, especially since he had the opportunity to get the hell out of the Hanoi Hilton.
