Ransom Center FTW

You bet your booty I just said For the Win.

For me, the HRC exhibit basically took films and refracted them like a prism does light. The result is that all of the different components that go into the production of a film are arranged in front of us. It shows us the functions of each aspect of production, and how they go about doing it. It made it easier for me to see what my responsibilities as individual editor are AND what my responsibilities as the member of the production team are. Of course I probably won't splice and cut strips of film (ahh... technology) nor will our script writers be forced to use typewriter for their genius prose, but the duties are essentially still the same and will interact with each other in the same way. The whole exhibit helped me think of ways I could do my job better.

The Making Movies exhibit also helped with easing the stress that's attached to the video essay. Just thinking about everything that needs to get done would make any one person feel overwhelmed. But like i said before, the HRC breaks everything down and shows us that by assigning a professional to each aspect of production, the list of duties get smaller and more manageable for each person.

I feel that the HRC serves as both a model for the kind of collaboration we're going to need and as well as a way for us to know what we have to do to get the job done.
