Response to Bruce Springsteen Video (02-11-2010)

So I think Professor Piekarski has gotten me into listening to Bruce Springsteen. I don't know about you guys, but I actually downloaded "Born in the U.S.A." after that day in lecture. While I'm writing this blog entry, I'm listening to "The River," it's helping me write exactly how I feel now. I'm listening to a whole different genre of music that I've never tried to listen to before, it feels great.
Of course the first time you watch something, you have to watch it again to catch what you missed. I don't think I missed anything the first time though, I was in the zone watching his performance. The only thing I didn't mention in class was the fact that I noticed that halfway into the song is when the mood changes, because his "Dreams were crushed," quoted by Ron I believe in class today. Of course his timing was also great because halfway through his song, he took a break to play on his harmonica to get the mood to change. This performance was dead on.
Bruce is the first music artist/performer that I've ever actually observed and said, "He delivered his performance." I'm a performer, in about the same setting, I know what getting into character means and it's a big part of what I do when I perform. The whole ten minutes was Bruce getting into character, into his zone, and I loved that, I appreciated it. I actually can feel the vibe with "The River," it's soothing to my ears and relaxes my mind. You guys should download this song too.
